Isaac Asimov Award, New York Science Fiction Society

Every year, at LunaCon, the annual convention of the New York Science Fiction Society (The Lunarians), the Isaac Asimov Memorial Award is presented to the person who "increased public knowledge or understanding in science, through writing and other works, and exemplifies qualities which the late Dr. Asimov admired".  Green Mountain Graphics is proud to be the supplier of this prestigious award – a medallion bearing the likeness of Dr. Asimov, embedded in a lucite pyramid, mounted on a wood base, with an engraved brass plate.   The portrait of Asimov was drawn by illustrator Frank Kelly Freas, ten-time Hugo Award-winning illustrator of book and magazine covers and interior art for science fiction, fantasy, NASA space program, record albums, advertising, and MAD Magazine. and a close friend of Isaac Asimov.  Previous recipients of the award include, Arthur C. Clark, Stephen Hawking, Stephen J. Gould, and Charles Sheffield. Commenting on the award, Ira Donewitz of The Lunarians noted "If you view the pyramid from above, an optical illusion of a coin with a hole in it is formed".

The most meaningful awards embody the spirit of the presenter with creativity and style.  Does your business or organization present awards?  We welcome the opportunity to work with you to create truly distinctive awards which you will be proud to present, and your recipients will be thrilled to receive.

Credit Union Centre / Building Specialty Sales Ltd.

In Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the place to see performances by Beyonce, Cirque du Soleil, The Eagles, and other headline acts is the Credit Union Centre, a world-class, 11,300 seat performance venue, and home to the Saskatoon Blades of the Canadian Hockey League.  As part of a recent renovation, additional seating was added incorporating photoluminescent seat number signs supplied by Green Mountain Graphics.  Another safety improvement included installation of aluminum track with photoluminescent markings in the stairwells.  The project was coordinated by Mark Stewart of Building Specialty Sales, Ltd. in Saskatoon, who commented on the finished job, "it looks outstanding".

Photoluminescent signs and markings are "the wave of the future".  The recently revised International Building Code calls for expanded use of photoluminescent signs, and many local jurisdictions are now adopting the model IBC code.  Savvy owners and property managers know that installing photoluminescent signage not only saves lives...it earns LEEDs credits and is a solid investment.  Green Mountain Graphics is the only local manufacturer of photoluminescent signs and markings, for full compliance with NYC Local Law 26, and all applications.  Contact us today for information, specifications, and pricing.

FOTO CARE

Foto Care first opened in 1968 as the Underground Gallery, a showplace for fine art photography. The "little shop" has grown into a big store on West 22nd Street, offering sales, rentals, training, consultation, and problem solving assistance for both digital and conventional photographers. Being in a visual business, Foto Care needed a first class visual identity for their storefronts.  Green Mountain Graphics created and installed a package of vinyl graphics and cutout acrylic letters that communicate Foto Care's premier position in NYC's photography industry.

Quality visual communication doesn't have to be expensive!  Does your signage fully communicate the image you wish to convey?  We invite you to draw on our experience to develop cost-effective, visually beautiful, high-quality signage.

LIC Express Shuttle Bus

386 directory

When the MTA shut down the #7 subway line to Long Island City for several weekends this winter, local merchants responded proactively with the LIC Express Shuttle Bus service.  Running between Vernon Blvd. in the Hunter's Point section of Long Island City, and Grand Central Station, the bus provided complementary direct access between Manhattan and the art galleries, restaurants, and businesses in Long Island City.  Brian Adams, head of the Hunter's Point Merchant Association, and organizer of the shuttle bus launch, contacted Green Mountain Graphics to provide the bus signage.  In just two days, we fabricated bold "LIC Express" signs for the sides and back of the bus, using black vinyl lettering on white magnetic sheeting.  Sponsoring businesses, including LICity Guide, Solaris Condominium, Modern Spaces Realty, Food Cellar Market, The Queens Chronicle, State Farm Insurance, and Kitty and Dog Lounge, had their logos digitally printed on self-adhesive vinyl, mounted to the sign panels.  Speaking of the success of the LIC Express shuttle bus, Brian said, "the signs looked great, they showed the message of community, the colors were vibrant, and every time that bus with our LICityguide.com sign goes through the Midtown Tunnel the clicks on the website are above 30,000."

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International

JUV DIABETES

Over the past forty years Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation has awarded more than $1.4 billion to diabetes research, making them the largest charitable funder and advocate for diabetes science worldwide.  Recently, the JDRF made improvements to the reception area of their corporate headquarters in lower Manhattan.  Noting the importance of a good first impression, JDRF contacted Green Mountain Graphics to design, fabricate and install a logo sign utilizing the JDRF logo.  We fabricated a custom beveled glass panel, etched with the logo and lettering, and paint filled Pantone blue 293. The sign is mounted to the wall with standoff and cap hardware.  Tim Walker, graphic designer at JDRF and our contact for the project, stated, "The Green Mountain staff was very professional and attentive during installation, and the finished product looks great in reception."

Monday Properties / 386 Park Avenue South

 386 directory

Monday Properties is a dynamic real estate investment firm that owns and operates all the properties in its growing portfolio.  Recent improvements to the lobby at 386 Park Avenue South included an upgrade of the existing directory.  Working with Kimberly Long Loken of architectural firm Beyer Blinder Belle, we presented a number of options to either replace or refurbish the existing directory unit.  Building ownership decided to maintain the "look and feel" of the original unit, while upgrading it to a modern appearance with greater utility.  The original directory was removed from the lobby wall, re-fitted with a new back box, insert carriers, and glass door.  The original frame was cleaned and polished, and remounted to the unit.  New directory strips are engraved blackout style, and a full color photo of the building is a backlit digital print. Commenting on Green Mountain Graphics' handling of the project, Kimberly Long Loken said "GMG was very diligent with post-installation "tweaks", making sure the property manager's expectations were met."

With over 30 years of experience in building, installing, and maintaining building directories, Green Mountain Graphics is your "go-to" source for new directories, refurbishing existing directories, and directory strips and inserts.  We offer directories and wayfinding solutions for all properties and all budgets
